The company ADY Express, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, together with Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, whose headquarters is located in Germany, has successfully completed their first joint cargo transportation via the Middle Corridor.
Block train departed from Chongqing, China, en route to Europe via Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. The train, consisting of 55 forty-foot containers with mixed cargo, transited through Azerbaijan before heading toward Georgia. The cargo is split into several destinations:
Part of the cargo, destined for Georgia and Eastern Europe, will reach its final points through the Georgian port of Poti and then cross the Black Sea to the port of Constanța (Romania). The remaining cargo, bound for Turkey and Germany, will travel through the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway and then continue into Europe by rail.
Founded in 1871 in Germany, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics is one of the largest logistics providers in the world. The company operates a global network with more than 489 offices across 173 countries, offering a wide range of services, including multimodal transportation, warehousing, distribution, and supply chain management.
The decision to utilize the Middle Corridor for this shipment underscores Azerbaijan’s importance as a strategic transit hub. Previously, Hellmann relied on routes through Russia, but this project marks a significant move toward diversifying the company’s logistics solutions.
This milestone highlights the growing attractiveness of the Middle Corridor as an alternative and efficient route for transporting goods between China and Europe. The corridor significantly reduces transit time by bypassing congested routes and traditional ports. The collaboration between ADY Express and Hellmann paves the way for more international players to utilize the Middle Corridor, enhancing economic ties between East and West.
Note: The Middle Corridor connects China and Europe through Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey, offering multimodal transport solutions that streamline and optimize shipping operations.
