Azerbaijan Railways and "TCDD Taşımacılık" Discussed Opportunities to Increase Cargo Transportation through the Middle Corridor

On September 19-20, 2024, in Baku, during the consultative meeting of railway administration leaders dedicated to the establishment of the International Association "Eurasian Transport Route," Rovshan Rustamov, Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, met with Ufuk Yalçın, General Director and Chairman of the Board of "TCDD Taşımacılık," the Turkish Republic's State Railways.

At the meeting, which was the second between the two parties this year, the main areas of cooperation and development prospects for the railway sectors of the two brotherly countries were discussed. There was also an exchange of views on the possibilities of increasing cargo transportation through the Middle Corridor following the modernization of the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway line.

It was noted that Azerbaijan and Turkey play a significant role in the transportation of goods from East to West and vice versa, and both countries are taking joint steps to increase the volume of cargo transportation through the Middle Corridor via the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway line.
