Cooperation Opportunities Between Azerbaijani and Pakistani Railway Authorities Discussed

The leadership of “Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC (ADY), a company under AZCON Holding, held a video conference with Syed Mazhar Ali Shah, Chairman of Pakistan Railways. The meeting discussed opportunities for cooperation on increasing freight volumes, port integration, joint investment projects, and transport routes passing through Azerbaijan and Pakistan within the East-West corridor. 

The parties emphasized the potential use of various directions along the South Asia–Caucasus–Europe route for mutual cargo exchange and expressed support for the development of a multimodal transport corridor connecting continents via Azerbaijan, passing through China, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Turkmenistan.

From the perspective of bilateral relations, the sides exchanged views on pilot cooperation projects, particularly the development of the "Pakistan-Azerbaijan Express" and the Pakistan–Iran–Azerbaijan pilot freight transport initiatives, the utilization of Pakistan's Gwadar Port capabilities, and the importance of the Middle Corridor.
