A ceremonial event was held in the Chinese city of Xi’an to mark the departure of a container train on the China-Europe route via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).

According to AZERTAC, a train consisting of 55 forty-foot containers departed from the "Xi’an International Port" station and is headed for Budapest.

The event was attended by representatives of the railways of Kazakhstan, China, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, as well as officials from the party committee and government of Shaanxi Province and the city of Xi’an.

The train will cover approximately seven thousand kilometers to Baku in 8-11 days. It is expected to reach its final destination in Budapest in about 25 days.

The reduction in delivery times and the provision of a new level of service became possible thanks to the fruitful cooperation between the railway and port administrations of the TITR member countries.

The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor, connects China and European countries through Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey.
