The 300th container block train on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR – Middle Corridor) has been dispatched from the People’s Republic of China to Azerbaijan.
The train, which departed from the Kazakhstan-China terminal located in the city of Xi’an, will pass through Kazakhstan and is expected to arrive at the Baku International Sea Trade Port between December 8 and 10.
The organization of the block train was carried out within the framework of cooperation between key partners of the Middle Corridor — ADY Express and Xi'an Free Trade Port.
The dispatch of the 300th block train along the China–Kazakhstan–Azerbaijan route significantly exceeds the results of previous years, highlighting the rapid development of the TITR and its growing importance for international transportation.
To date, the volume of goods transported via the Middle Corridor from China has exceeded 27,000 TEUs (20-foot container equivalents), which is 25 times more compared to the same period last year.
This growth emphasizes the increasing interest of shippers in the Middle Corridor as a primary transport route for fast and efficient connectivity between China and Europe via Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
By 2025, the number of block trains sent from China to Azerbaijan and Europe is expected to more than triple, reaching 1,000 trains annually.
In addition to shipments from China to Azerbaijan, reverse traffic has also commenced. On November 24, for the first time, export cargo was dispatched from Baku to China by rail. The first export block train, "Baku–Xi’an," consisting of 62 forty-foot containers, will be delivered via a multimodal route through Kazakhstan to one of China’s largest dry ports — Xi’an. As part of the project, a total of 15,000 tons, or 600 containers, of export cargo is planned to be sent to China via this route by the end of this year.
Cargo transportation along the China–Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan–China routes contributes to the establishment of the Middle Corridor as a comprehensive East-West-East trade route. This corridor provides cargo owners with fast, safe, and efficient logistics services in both directions.
